But Madeira is also the protected name of a very excellent and still little-known liqueur wine that comes from the Atlantic island of Madeira, which belongs to Portugal. There are close ties between France and Portugal and there are a number of parallels: among other things, viticulture plays an important role in both countries. Not only for the self-image of its residents, but also for business and tourism. So it's no wonder that as French people in Berlin we are so in love with Portugal and its products, including wine! Antonio Madeira and Tiago Teles are two winemakers that we personally know well and value both for their exceptional wines and as good friends. Both belong to the group of “French Portuguese” who have one foot in France and the other in Portugal. Their wines "Vinhas Velhas 2013" and "Maria da Graça 2015" are among our favourites. Here we tell you why that is.

On Friday the 7th August is the traditional celebration of the new garlic harvest in Lautrec in southern France. A good reason for us to do the same thing in Wilmersdorf, a few days late , on August 19th : We will serve you our favorite rosé wines in color and culinary style to match the fresh, spicy bulbs. And if you dress according to the motto, we will reward you with a little surprise...

Last year some of you could already taste how well Vinho Verde from Portugal goes with asparagus from Brandenburg. That's why we're repeating our festival this season - if the weather cooperates, of course again with the old varieties from the Demeter farmer Paul Schulz from Havelsee . Louis Lefebvre and Béatrice d'Anselme, winegrowers from the Rhône, come to visit and serve a selection of their wines. Her son Marin, himself an aspiring winemaker and currently part of Maître Philippe & Filles, provides active support. In addition to the red wines “Carpe Diem” and “Trilogie”, which are already known from our range, there are also various white and rosé wines on the tasting table. In the last week of February we flew to Porto to visit the two wine fairs "Essência do Vinho" and "Simplesmente Vinho". In just a few days we have discovered numerous exciting wines, seen many friends again and placed a few new orders that will be coming to us very soon. On October 16th and 17th we held a small in-house exhibition. Under the title "Festa Portuguesa" we invited 3 of the most exciting young winemakers from Portugal to Berlin: Rita Marques Ferreira, Luis Louro and Antonio Madeira. We wanted to offer our customers the opportunity to get to know the wines of the three in a relaxed atmosphere. The weather was on our side, the shop was full and the atmosphere was great, the customers were enthusiastic, the winegrowers were satisfied and of course we were too!
