Vinho Verde. It's not just a wine, it's also the name of the region it comes from. It stretches in north-western Portugal between the Douro and Minho rivers. The region is very green, hence the name of the wine (Portuguese for "green wine"). Grapes are grown for mass production in the flat valleys near the rivers, while the more inhospitable slopes grow exciting, low-yielding grapes that are grown for the production of high-quality wines. It is precisely for these wines that our heart beats ... Here you can find out more about what makes them so special!

Last year some of you could already taste how well Vinho Verde from Portugal goes with asparagus from Brandenburg. That's why we're repeating our festival this season - if the weather cooperates, of course again with the old varieties from the Demeter farmer Paul Schulz from Havelsee . So come along and toast the end of the asparagus season with us on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. We look forward to seeing you!

April 15 marks the start of the new goat cheese season and we cordially invite you to try all the fine goat cheeses we've been waiting for all winter. There is of course a matching wine accompaniment - come by, we look forward to seeing you!

The program for our spring events is online! After the cardboard party and trout breakfast in March, we'll be celebrating fresh goat cheese from France, Demeter asparagus from Brandenburg, and Vinho Verde! We are really looking forward to it and especially to your visit!

In the last week of February we flew to Porto to visit the two wine fairs "Essência do Vinho" and "Simplesmente Vinho". In just a few days we have discovered numerous exciting wines, seen many friends again and placed a few new orders that will be coming to us very soon. These include the fantastic rosé by Rita Marques (Conceito), a very elegant encruzado and a fresh vinho verde. Read more about our discoveries and experiences in this blog post...

We are always looking for exciting new products that win our hearts and that we can offer our customers. Of course, our focus is on French delicacies, but if there are interesting products to discover and taste elsewhere, we are curious and take a closer look... Portugal seems to be a real treasure trove in this respect! This time we went on a little wine journey to the famous Douro Valley...

Everything was better before! It's a good thing that this statement isn't always true... especially when it comes to Vinho Verde. It used to be known as a lemonade-like wine with barely 10% alcohol and a lot of carbonation. Fortunately, things are different today, because the new generation of winegrowers aspires to measure themselves with their product against the “crème de la crème” of the globalized wine world... and: they succeed!

Who would have thought? Asparagus pairs wonderfully with Vinho Verde from northern Portugal! Come by and see for yourself.
