Intense, complex, refined and balanced

The Geronimo 2019 is a cuvée of Galego Dourado and Sercial. The musts were fermented together in French barrels. In the glass it appears a light and clear, slightly golden yellow. The nose discreetly reveals aromas of citrus fruits, white peach and pineapple. The wine has a lot of tension and minerality, it is full-bodied with vibrant acidity and a very long finish.

Geronimo is a captivating wine with a long and very gastronomic finish that will accompany all the grilled fish from our Atlantic coast, as well as the stews, cataplanas and the wonderful Alentejo rice, intense and full of fragrances, enhanced with our herbs!

Wines for the cultivated and discerning connoisseur who seeks and loves something special.

"In terms of white grapes, the 2017 vintage came very early in Portocarro. At the beginning of August we were in full swing in the vineyards. The year was very interesting both qualitatively and quantitatively, and the maturity and terroir of the vineyards marked the wines we obtained.
When the fermentation of the Galego Dourado and Sercial began in French oak vats, which since 2012 have also been used to ferment and age red wines and some white musts, we realized that this harvest was full of freshness and character and complexity. In our minds, a possible new wine began to "ferment", different from anything we had in our portfolio, but with the personality and backbone of Portocarro well-defined. At the end of the "sur lies" (or battonage) phase, we were able to create this practically 50/50 blend of Sercial and Galego Dourado, which we called GERONIMO.

Herdade do Portocarro - Vineyards

This wine that we are now launching, whose irreverence and playfulness we know, will give us a tremendous evolution in the bottle that will allow us to drink it for many good years!
Geronimo 2017 was made with a lot of vision, passion and affection. It is our wish that all this effort is visible to our consumers and that when they drink it, like we do, they will never forget this wine. A wine modeled on a great Apache warrior who was also a shaman. A wine that includes his combative qualities but also his wisdom and mysticism. A wine of the earth connected to the sky."

South of Lisbon, in the district of Alcácer do Sal, surrounded by olive groves and horse paddocks in the middle of a fertile and idyllic area, lies the Herdade do Portocarro winery. The 15-hectare vineyard, which slopes to the south, is located in an area crossed by the River Sado and is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The warm, temperate Mediterranean climate in the Setúbal Peninsula region is shaped by the proximity of the sea. This special landscape and the love of wine and high-quality raw materials result in products of unique quality every year. JOSÉ ABREU LOPES DA MOTA CAPITÃO's project is based on a philosophy of high-quality wines in limited quantities and exclusive production. Integrated plant protection without human intervention ensures that the wine can express its full potential and a number of traditional winemaking techniques, such as: B. the fermentation of the grapes in barrels made of French oak, give the wines their unique character.

From the beginning, the Herdade do Portocarro winery has produced unique wines that have immediately positioned themselves at the highest level of national production, including Herdade do Portocarro, Tears of Anima and Cavalo Maluco. These wines have an intense and versatile personality, are taut and earthy and are characterized by an exceptional elegance and freshness.
