Introducing the captivating Colheita 2003 Tawny Port: A masterpiece of taste experiences!

Despite the challenges of scorching, dry conditions, the fascinating Colheita 2003 Tawny Port triumphs. Its rich bouquet and youthful character develop a refreshing, lively taste.

Aromas of ripe plums, lush figs and subtle floral notes characterize its fullness. Candied fruit flavors dominate the palate, accompanied by a touch of spice and a satisfying finish. Experience this unforgettable pleasure that enchants the senses with every sip.

Elegance in color and aroma: In a medium saturated, brick ruby red color, the Colheita 2003 Tawny Port seduces the eye.

Its rich nose presents distinct aromas of ripe plums and lush figs, rounded off by subtle floral nuances.

Invigorating variety of flavors: Tawny Port impresses the palate with youthful freshness and liveliness. The first impression reveals juicy candied fruits, especially candied cherries, which seduce the palate. As the tasting progresses, the structural depth of the wine becomes noticeable: strong tannins and a subtle spice appear in the middle section. An elegant decline to the candied fruit notes forms the final, satisfying climax.

This vintage is receiving praise from critics and wine connoisseurs. His depth and concentration make him a highlight. A parallel to the 2009 White Colheita: Both impress with their youthfulness, richness and lasting taste experiences.

Experience the incomparable journey of the Colheita 2003 Tawny Port. Whether enjoyed immediately or saved for the future, this wine promises an unforgettable experience where every sip reveals elegance and finesse.

allergens and ingredients

Although the Quevedo family has been producing port wine for more than 5 generations, the current company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the youngest port wine houses on the Douro.

With less than 30 years of existence, we feel like we're still at the beginning of the journey and that every day is a new page that we fill with what we love to do most: explore all the possibilities of enjoying wine.

In the late '70s, Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo decided to start a family in S. João Pesqueira, in the heart of the Douro Valley. Both are descendants of families with a long tradition in viticulture and port wine production.

The first Quevedo vineyards were planted in 1889 by Abel Gouveia Costa in Valongo dos Azeites, in S. João da Pesqueira. Abel was succeeded by his son, Raul Gouveia Costa, who made the business flourish, and then by his son-in-law, João Batista Quevedo, who expanded the vineyards into new operations and passed on the love of winemaking to his son, Oscar Quevedo.

Beatriz's family also had their roots in the Carrazeda district on the north bank of the Douro. The main property of the family was the Quinta da Alegria with the train station of the same name.

After making port in his father's facilities for a number of years, Oscar Sr. built a new winery that is now the Quevedo's headquarters. In the meantime he increased the vineyards to the current 100 hectares and 25 hectares of organic olive cultivation.

In 1993 the Quevedo brand was launched, heralding a new era for the family, who were finally bottling port under their own brand, something only possible since 1986 when Portugal joined the EU.

Growing up surrounded by vineyards and barrels, Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo (Jr.) have followed in their parents' footsteps in the family business.

Cláudia Quevedo graduated in oenology from the University of Vila Real in 1998. Since then she has been making port wines in Quevedo. Cláudia is married to Fernando João Martins and lives near the winery with their children Beatriz and João.

Oscar Quevedo (Jr.), who studied economics in Porto and worked in finance in Switzerland and Spain, joined the family in 2009 after the death of his grandfather. He is responsible for Quevedo sales in more than 40 countries.

He is married to Nadia Adria, who will join the company in 2020 and will be responsible for the Marketing and Tourism department. The couple have three children: Marc, Alba and Miguel.

Manufacturer: Quevedo Vinhos, Quinta da Sra. do Rosário, 5130-326 S. João da Pesqueira, Portugal

Vintage: 2003
Vineyards: Quinta Vale d'Agodinho
Grape varieties: Touriga Franca (40%), Touriga Nacional (10%), Tinta Roriz (16%), Tinta Barroca (32%), Tinto Cão (2%)

Alcohol - 21.00%
Total acidity - 5.4 (g/l)
pH - 3.17
Residual sugar - 112 (g/l)

Viticulture: A difficult year due to extremely hot and dry weather, which resulted in lower yields and smaller grapes. We were able to produce high quality wines, but overall the vintage was lower in quantity and higher in alcohol.

Fermentation: The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its purity and quality.

The wine was made in two different ways. Some of the wine was aged in small 250 liter oak barrels, which gave the wine a unique character and depth. Another part was aged in larger chestnut barrels, which contribute to the complexity and richness of the wine.

Master Blender: Oscar Quevedo Sr.
