Discover the Pineau des Charentes from cognac producer Jean-Luc Pasquet, the perfect aperitif with friends!
Pineau des Charentes is a “fortified wine” made from a blend of freshly pressed grape juice (Ugni Blanc and Montils) and Eau de Vie de Cognac. Aging in oak barrels for at least 18 months gives this Pineau Blanc its unique taste and remarkable aromatic complexity.
In the Charentes region of western France, the Pineau des Charentes is the aperitif par excellence and is often enjoyed to whet the appetite before a meal. However, it also goes wonderfully with foie gras or a hearty tart with Roquefort or with a good goat cheese.
Its “robe” is light straw yellow, the nose is complex with aromas of fruit (pear, quince and grape), spices and notes of nuts and raisins. On the palate, this Pineau des Charentes is rich, very aromatic with a jammy touch (pear, grape). Overall, it is characterized by a successful balance between sugar and acid.
