The production of good olive oil in Portugal but especially in the Alentejo region is lost in the memory of time. Romans, Visigoths and Arabs produced olive oil. It is believed that olive oil was produced in the region even before these peoples were present.
Nuri olive oil comes from a small farming cooperative that runs a mill for some municipalities of the DOP Alentejo Interior. Its typically yellowish color, sometimes more golden, sometimes more greenish, is associated with the taste and aromas of Cordovil olives and/or Cobrançosa olives and especially Galega Vulgar.
