A remarkable canned mackerel that convinces across the board: firm, light flesh that is vaguely reminiscent of tuna, but tastes even better. The whole thing in mild cold-pressed olive oil with the flesh of real ripe tomatoes and chili peppers. Small mackerel, processed like sardines.
An absolute discovery! Small mackerel processed like sardines and with real extra virgin olive oil from the Pinhais family in Trás-Os-Montes.
Best enjoyed on its own on toasted bread, perhaps garnished with fresh coriander or accompanied by a green salad. Add a glass of white wine - the feast is ready, bon appétit!

The Conserveira "Pinhais" is a family business that was founded in 1920 in the small fishing village of Matosinhos near Porto. Today, almost 100 years later, the company is still family-owned under the leadership of Dr. Antonio Pinhal and is one of the most renowned canned fish manufacturers in the country.
True to the company motto "quality over quantity", Pinhais & Co. Ltd. still worked using traditional methods, with very little done by machines and most of the work done by hand, which is a rarity today.

Canned mackerel are often produced with even greater care than canned sardines, for example, where the fish is preserved whole: the mackerel, on the other hand, is first carefully filleted and gutted by hand. Our canned mackerel contain no bones, scales or heads and are a good choice for beginners.
The mackerel is a "migratory fish" that travels in large schools. In winter, the mackerel stays in deep water, in spring it moves closer to the coast, where it finds more food. It is fished between mid-January and mid-March.
Mackerel contains many valuable nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, B and D, magnesium, selenium, iron and iodine.
