Caution: Sterilizing the container may cause the chili to lose some flavor, as it is sensitive to heat. Therefore, one chili might be mildly spicy, while another could be incredibly hot.
By adding 3 chili peppers, La Quiberonnaise attempts to guarantee a reasonably consistent taste experience.
Since this is not always possible with a natural product, the Joker figure decorates the can.
The illustration of the can is by the French cartoonist Frank Margerin, who is known in Germany primarily for the comic character Lucien and the series "Die Vorstadtgang".
Like fine wine, sardines mature over time and improve with age. That's why many cans indicate the year they were caught, and they're referred to as "vintage sardines." We currently offer sardines from 2010 to 2014. Sardines taste best when the oil has thoroughly permeated them. We recommend turning the can every six months and not opening it for at least a year. You'll clearly taste the difference: the more mature sardines are significantly more tender and flavorful, practically melting in your mouth. Younger sardines simply have more bite; the flesh is firmer and hasn't yet absorbed as much oil.
