The “Ramon Peña” company, based in the Galician town of Ribadumia, can look back on a history spanning more than 90 years: founded in 1920 by José Peña Oubiña in Cambados, Galicia, the company is now run by the third generation, led by Nely Concheiro. Its business is the production of premium canned fish and seafood from Galicia’s Rías (fjords), made without additives and enjoyed worldwide. As the only company in its sector, it is protected by the “Pesca de Rías” brand, which guarantees the origin and quality of the product.

Ramon Peña’s stated goal is to inspire gourmets and restaurateurs around the world to rethink their approach. That is why only freshly caught fish of the season is used, and everything is done by hand except for sealing and labelling the cans. The combination of the finest ingredients, time-honoured recipes and meticulous quality control results in products of the highest quality that are sure to impress.

The squid family includes, for example, squid, octopus and cuttlefish. They are usually about 30 cm long and can weigh up to 5 kilos. In the kitchen, their delicate arms are particularly popular, as is the black ink they release when threatened. It can be used to colour pasta or rice. Their meat is firm and lean and tastes delicious raw (e.g. as sushi), lightly cooked, pan-fried, grilled or fried.
