The Biscuiterie de Provence is now run by the sixth generation of the Bédouin family. It was founded in 1833 by Joseph Bédouin, who at that time was still a traveling salesman selling almonds, lemon blossoms, apricot kernels and other similar products on the markets of Provence. The almonds in his range proved to be particularly successful: more and more bakers, pastry chefs, nougat and ice cream manufacturers were asking for them. Joseph's twin sons, Jean-Paul and Jean-Louis, who had meanwhile joined their father's company, expanded the range to include homemade marzipan, chocolate and fruit confectionery and in 1997 the Biscuiterie began producing biscuits and pastries based on almonds, which have since become the make up the heart of the family business. All house products are prepared with love and local Provençal ingredients according to traditional recipes. Perhaps this is the secret of their exceptional taste, which takes you straight to sunny Provence...
