This 2021 Vintage Port is made from classic grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Tinta Barroca.

The grapes come from the Vale da Tejas, a terroir with excellent acidity and a balance thanks to the soil, altitude and varietal composition.

Winemaker Rita Marques uses traditional methods such as treading the grapes in granite warehouses and a two-day maceration. After a three-day fermentation, the wine is aged for 20-22 months before being bottled.

In the glass it shows a dark color and an impeccable structure. The intense nose reveals ripe dark berries and floral notes. The wine impresses with its dense structure and pleasant fruitiness, balanced by the tannins. It can already be enjoyed because the tannins are well integrated.

This Conceito Vintage Port 2021 goes ideal with chocolate or apple desserts as well as nuts or full-fat cheese.

Anyone who is interested in the wines from the Douro Valley cannot ignore Rita Marques Ferreira. She is currently one of the most highly traded new generation winemakers in this region. Their wines regularly receive the best ratings from international wine critics.

Rita's family has been growing wine in the upper Douro for several generations. She learned her craft in Bordeaux and then worked as a “flying winemaker” in New Zealand and South Africa. Now she has returned to her roots and holds the scepter of the winery firmly in her hand.
An impressive 85 hectares of vineyards are cultivated by hand at an altitude of 500 meters. The approach is generally very close to nature and consciously avoids the use of herbicides and systemic plant protection products.
She sells part of the harvest to other wineries. Every year she selects the best vineyards for her own winery and produces elegant, fresh wines with lots of freshness and minerality. Everything is well thought out because Rita has a concept. Hence the name: Conceito.
