The 2020 Rocim & Barbeito A Meias Verdelho na Ânfora is a white wine resulting from a collaboration between Barbeito and Herdade de Rocim.
It is made mainly from the Verdelho grape, which comes from Madeira, supplemented by 8% Sercial grapes.
The wine is unique because it is the first Madeira white wine variety influenced by Alentejo amphorae.
It was fermented and aged in modern amphorae without shells, with 716 bottles being produced.
It is dry, full-bodied with salty and mineral notes and a lingering dryness on the finish. Straw yellow in color. Aroma with plenty of saltiness, ripe fruit, peach, and slightly oxidative notes.
On the palate, dense, complex, high acidity and an almost salty finish with only 11.2 percent alcohol.
Off the beaten track.
The grapes were carefully selected and transported in 20-kg crates. The Verdelho grapes come from Raposeira, Seixal, and São Vicente, while the Sercial comes from Seixal. The wine aged for 12 months in clay amphorae.
Excellent as a starter, fish salad and seafood, young goat cheese.
Drinking temperature: 10°C - 12°C
