An ambitious Reserva red wine with great potential that requires patience but will reward you with an impressive development.
The 2019 Reserva Alento presents itself with depth and appropriate power for its level – a wine with much to offer this year. It displays expressive fruit and good structure , but is currently a little dense and will likely be more enjoyable next spring .
Textured and pointed, it proves impressive in many ways with an alcohol content of 14.2% , which is perfectly integrated.
Grape varieties & vinification
This complex cuvée combines four distinctive grape varieties :
- 40% Alicante Bouschet - adds structure, color and strength
- 35% Aragonez (Tempranillo) - brings elegance and finesse
- 15% Syrah - adds spice and complexity
- 10% Touriga Nacional - provides aromatic depth
The wine was aged for 12 months in 25% new French oak , which adds extra complexity to the wine without masking its varietal characteristics.
Development potential & drinking recommendation
Current state: Still somewhat closed and tight - needs time to unfold.
Optimal timeframe: In one year, or perhaps two years, it should hit the mark and show its full quality.
Shelf life: Should have a chance to hold up well and develop further - a promising long-term potential.
Recommendation: Patience will be rewarded - the wine definitely needs to mature a little longer to justify the current enthusiasm .
