The story begins with Salvatore Orlando, a Sicilian who settled in Getaria (Gipuzkoa) in the Spanish Basque Country and married a Basque woman named Simona Olasagasti. In 1920, Salvatore Orlando founded one of the first salted fish factories and established himself as one of the leading producers of Cantabrian anchovies. He was one of the Italian pioneers who introduced the centuries-old salt preservation techniques to the Cantabrian coast.

The company specializes in the production of top-quality canned and semi-preserved products, particularly Bonito del Norte (white tuna), anchovy fillets, bluefin tuna, and Cantabrian mackerel, all caught using environmentally friendly fishing methods and processed by hand. Key products include Bonito del Norte in various preparations, Cantabrian anchovies (considered among the best anchovies in the world), and tuna and mackerel fillets in organic olive oil.

The company continues to follow the traditional, artisanal methods of fish preservation that have been passed down since the 1920s.
