The 2019 Conceito Tinto is a blend of old vines, each with an average age of 90 years. Yields are very low, but the quality is optimal. They grow on slate at an altitude of approximately 450 meters above sea level. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 22 months in French oak barriques (50% new and 50% used) from one single vintage.
A great and elegant wine and a real competitor to many Grands Crus Classés from Bordeaux, especially from Saint-Émilion and Pomerol.
The nose opens with notes of blackberry, cherry, and cassis, delicate violets, and the scent of Provence in summer. These are intermingled with notes of cocoa, tobacco, and vanilla.
In the mouth the wine has a lot of tension, the tannins are present, velvety and well integrated.
A complex wine of great freshness with a long and mineral finish that will continue to evolve and improve over the next 10 years.
If you want to drink it now, give it plenty of air and plenty of time to develop.
