Mackerel are migratory fish that travel in large schools. In winter, they stay in deep water, while in spring they migrate closer to the coast where they find more food. They are fished between mid-January and mid-March. Mackerel contains many valuable nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, B, and D, magnesium, selenium, iron, and iodine.
Canned mackerel is often produced with even greater care than, for example, canned sardines, where the fish are packed whole: mackerel, on the other hand, is first carefully filleted and gutted by hand. Thus, our canned mackerel contains no bones, scales, or heads and is a particularly good choice for beginners.
