The honey from the Morvan Massif is a unique composition of wild flora from France's smallest mountain range. In the Morvan Regional Natural Park, a green oasis in the heart of Burgundy, this exceptional honey is produced as a subtle and natural blend of wildflower nectar and chestnut pollen.
This amber-colored liquid wine is harvested in the summer months of June and July, when the region's spontaneous flora is in full bloom.
The bees collect nectar from a variety of wildflowers – blackberries, cornflowers, umbellifers, and willowherb – as well as from the blossoms and honeydew of the region's typical chestnut trees. This unique combination gives the honey its distinctive character.
The result is a harmonious honey that combines the best of both worlds: the floral, light aromas of wildflowers blend with the woody, full-bodied notes of chestnut to create a balanced taste experience. The subtle bitterness typical of chestnut honey is gently softened by the natural sweetness of the wildflowers, resulting in a complex yet approachable honey.
Visually, Morvan honey presents itself in a clear amber hue with brownish reflections. Thanks to the chestnut component, it retains its liquid consistency for an exceptionally long time – crystallization only occurs after six to nine months. This smooth texture makes it a versatile delight that appeals to both lovers of mild blossom honeys and connoisseurs of distinctive honey varieties.
Every spoonful of this honey captures the wild and harmonious natural landscape of the Morvan – an authentic taste experience from the heart of Burgundy, reflecting the diversity and purity of this unique region.
