Nuri's sardine pâté might be just the thing if you want to get in the Portuguese holiday spirit.
It is a delicious pâté with the same ingredients as the cannery's famous canned sardines: cloves, bay leaves, tomatoes and piri-piri and of course the best sardines from the fish market in Matosinhos near Porto.
Bread, crackers or cucumber slices will have you covered.

The ancient Romans already valued sardines and consumed them in salted, marinated or smoked form. To this day, the sardine is and remains a high-quality product - if the quality and production method are right. Thanks to their short lifespan, they have absorbed very few pollutants from the sea and have a high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and trace elements. 100g of sardines (about 8 fish) contain 40% of the recommended daily dose of calcium and 100% of the vitamin D necessary to absorb the trace elements. In order for the human organism to be able to absorb all of these valuable nutrients, it is essential that the sardine is marinated in high-quality olive oil, because only this oil allows the human organism to break down and metabolize it.
