Let yourself be seduced by this wine of unique character, linked to its terroir, combining its elegant structure with the freshness of a lively acidity that gives it great pleasure on the table and a long life. It should be served between 16-18ºC.
Red and black berries and spices stand out on the nose. The impressive fruit concentration lets the wine linger in the mouth.
The tannins are soft and well integrated, offering a solid structure without being overly dry. All this is supported by a discreet acidity.
An elegant and unique wine that stays true to its origins and goes well with dishes of intense flavor. Should be served at 16-18ºC, decanting is recommended.
Origin: The vineyards are located in the sub-region of Cima-Corgo (Alijó), at an average altitude of 500-600 m, on slate and granite soils.
Grape Varieties: Hand-picked grapes from old vineyards (over 70 years old) with a wide variety of native varieties (more than 20), notably Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Rufete.
Vinification and aging: The grapes are harvested in September and October. 65% destemming with minimal crushing
long fermentation in small warehouses, 3 months of post-fermentation maceration for part of the final cuvée.
Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and chestnut barrels (15% new). Bottled in February 2020, after 36 months of aging in barrels.
Goes well with: meat (roast beef), duck, game (wild boar).
