Collection: Bacalhau

The fish preserved by drying was once considered “poor man’s food”, but today it enjoys great esteem in its homeland and far beyond the borders of Portugal.

Portugal's national dish is definitely bacalhau, which means stockfish.

The average Portuguese person eats seven kilograms of dried bacalhau per year and this is used in the form of salads, soups, starters, main courses and desserts.
