France and Portugal share close ties and have much in common, including the important role that winemaking plays in both countries—not only in the identity of their people, but also in their economies and tourism industries. So it is no wonder that we French people in Berlin are so fond of Portugal and its products, especially its wine! Two winemakers we know personally and highly regard both for their exceptional wines and as good friends are Antonio Madeira and Tiago Teles. Both belong to the group of “French-Portuguese” people who have one foot in France and the other in Portugal. Their wines “Vinhas Velhas 2013” and “Maria da Graça 2015” are among our favorites. As part of our visit to the SIRHA food trade show in Lyon, we recently paid a visit to our cheese supplier, Paccard. The family-run business with 12 employees is based near the picturesque village of Manigod in Haute-Savoie, which can be reached by car via winding mountain roads. Although we had not made an appointment, the owner, Jean-François Paccard, took a lot of time out for us. For an hour, he guided us through all the aging cellars and showed us the various other departments where the very fresh cheeses are delivered or prepared for shipping. The perfect finishing touch was a tasting of different cheeses, with which we were served a glass of Crémant de Savoie to celebrate the occasion – it was Philippe's birthday.
Louis Lefebvre and Béatrice d'Anselme, Rhône winegrowers, are coming to visit and will pour a selection of their wines. Their son Marin, an aspiring winemaker himself and currently part of Maître Philippe & Filles, is actively helping out. In addition to the "Carpe Diem" and "Trilogie" red wines, which are already part of our range, various white and rosé wines will also be available for tasting. A tasting dedicated to wine and family traditions – it simply has to be good!
On Friday, May 20, Dr. Christina Jagla, a pharmacist by passion, will present the herbal elixirs with artichoke and ginseng, whose recipe comes from Benedictine monks and has been refined from generation to generation in the Jagla family of pharmacists from Wuppertal. Especially nice: the elixirs are really delicious! They taste great plain or over ice, but also as a long drink and cocktail, for example with Ginger Ale or Crémant. We will, of course, test both live!

On October 16 and 17, we held a small in-house trade fair.
