Pét Nat, produced according to the ancient method and without sulfur - no SO2
This "Pet Nat" Pequenos Rebentos from Márcio Lopes is a Portuguese sparkling wine made from 100% Loureiro grapes. It is produced entirely naturally, meaning it contains no added sulfur (no SO2).
Its bubbles are very fine, almost foamy, and on the palate it delights with additional notes of citrus fruits, apples, orange blossoms, and honey. The nose reveals white fruits, peach, grapefruit, and lime zest.
Very refreshing thanks to its creamy, fresh mousse, good volume, a fine aftertaste and plenty of minerality.
Because the product is unfiltered and sulfite-free, the "Pet Nat" may become slightly cloudy after opening. This does not affect its quality in any way, and it probably won't happen anyway, since the bottle will likely be emptied quickly once opened.
“Pet Nat” is the abbreviation for “Pétillant Naturel”, which in French means “natural sparkling wine”.
“Pet Nat” just sounds cooler!
Serve chilled, between 6 - 8 °C.
This Pet Nat has undergone only one fermentation and is produced without the addition of sugar or cultured yeast. The grapes were harvested in mid-August and gently pressed.

Márcio Lopes was born in Porto in 1983 and spent many summer holidays with his grandparents in the Porto hinterland, where they grew corn and wheat and also produced wine. At the age of 6, his grandmother placed him in a lagar (a traditional Portuguese granite basin used for winemaking) so that he could crush the grapes with his feet, as is still traditional today. This was the first of many, many wines that young Márcio has produced since then. The rest is history...
A year before graduating with a degree in agricultural engineering in 2006, Márcio began working with renowned winemaker Anselmo Mendes in Melgaço. In 2008, he moved to Australia, where he was responsible for two vintages in Rutherglen and Tasmania. In 2010, he launched his own project, "Pequenos Rebentos" (Portuguese for "little sprouts"), in the Minho region, home of Vinhos Verdes.
