On July 14, the French national holiday, we don't sing "aux armes, citoyens!" but rather the far more peaceful, brotherly and sisterly "auf fourchettes, les copains!" (to your forks, friends!) and, fittingly, fire up the barbecue to celebrate the day.
Merguez and French sausages are grilled, as well as delicious vegetarian alternatives. Pastis and wine are served, just as it should be.
