Porto Ruby-Quevedo

For this Ruby, grapes from high-altitude vineyards have been carefully selected to enhance the freshness, fruitiness and purity of this young and vibrant Ruby. A great introduction to the world of Ruby Ports.

Goes well with dark chocolate, blue cheese, berry cake

Colour: rich ruby red. This Ruby has a complex nose of red cherries, cherry jam, dark chocolate and hints of black pepper. In the mouth, this young Ruby shows soft tannins and a slightly dry mid-palate. The pure aromas of young red fruits, spices and chocolate are perfectly balanced and lead to a beautiful finish.

Port wine customer:

Ruby is the color of all red wines when they are made. Ruby Port is red in colour, red fruit aromas predominate and full-bodied on the palate. It is bottled when it is young to preserve its red color and fresh aromas before they oxidize. It can be aged in oak, but if so only for a short time, no more than a few years and almost always in large capacity oak barrels to reduce the influence of oxygen during its aging. Ruby style varies in intensity of colour, complexity of aromas and body. From less to more, here is the order:

  • Ruby: a blend of port wine aged about three years.
  • Reserve Ruby: a blend of port wine aged around six years.
  • Late Bottled Vintage (LBV): a single harvest bottled 4 to 6 years after harvest.
  • Crusted: Vintage Port bottled 2 to 5 years after the harvest and aged in the cellar for at least 3 years to form a crust inside the bottle.
  • Vintage: a harvest bottled 2 years after harvest.
