Vinification : Traditional Douro "Palhete" or "Clarete"; somewhere between a rose and a bright red. Made entirely from 80 year old vines planted on 2 hectares of slate and granite. Natural and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes: It is very pure, with delicate, juicy red fruits; Raspberry and sour cherry with a touch of fresh pepper. In the mouth it is refreshing and crisp, with a strong mineral character, almost salty and iodine.

Pet Nat is an abbreviation - the whole name is "Pétillant Naturel", which is French for "natural sparkling wine". Pet Nat just sounds cooler!

Serve fresh, preferably between 8 - 10 °C.

Winemaking: Tiago Sampaios pétillant naturel is a natural sparkling wine made using the ancient method (Ancestrale) as it was before the discovery of bottle fermentation in Champagne. The wine is bottled during fermentation without the addition of yeast or sugar.

Grape Varieties: This field blend contains over 25 native Portuguese varietals with nearly equal amounts of red and white grapes. This ancient tradition is mostly only maintained in Portugal and is called "Field Blend".

A field blend is the remnant of an old winemaking tradition: in the past, the vineyards were not planted according to variety, but with different white and red grapes. When the time came, everything was harvested and fermented together.

The Uivo Renegado is a field blend of more than 25 different autochthonous grape varieties - 50% red and 50% white. The red ones include Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Sousão, Bastardo, Tinta Barocca, Tinta Francisca and Tinto Cão, while the white ones include Rabigato, Malvasia Fina, Alvarinho, Gouveio, Verdelho, Esgana Cão and Viosinho.
The vineyards are over 80 years old and no longer produce much, but the quality is particularly good.

The wines of the "Uivo" series are produced by Tiago Sampaio at an average altitude of 600 meters above sea level in the high altitudes of the Douro Valley. The grapes grow on the family vineyards.
The entire manufacturing process is carefully monitored and controlled, mixing knowledge acquired over generations with new scientific developments. The result is complex wines, mysterious and seductive, of great gastronomic versatility.

Vinhos naturais - Folias de Baco - Natural wines

Tiago Sampaio ist ein leidenschaftlicher und innovativer Winzer, der nach Abschluss seines Doktorats in Oregon im Jahr 2007 sein eigenes Weingut gründete. Während seiner Zeit in den USA entwickelte er eine tiefe Bewunderung für Pinot Noir und beschloss nach seiner Rückkehr in die Douro-Region in Portugal, diese zarte und frische burgundische Rebsorte im Jahr 2001 anzubauen. Diese Erfahrung prägte seinen eigenen Stil der Weinherstellung.

Glücklicherweise besaß Tiagos Familie Weinberge in den höher gelegenen Gebieten von Favaois, die für ihre Produktion von aromatischen Moscatel-Weinen bekannt sind, die traditionell für den DOC Moscatel do Douro versetzt werden. Tiago nutzt diese Weinberge, indem er seine Reben in Höhenlagen von 500 bis 700 Metern anbaut. Seine Weinberge bestehen aus einer Kombination von alten erblichen Mischrebflächen und neu angelegten Parzellen, in denen er mit Rebsorten wie Alvarinho und Tinta Francisca experimentiert.

Neben seinem eigenen Weingut arbeitet Tiago auch als Berater bei Aphros, einem führenden biodynamischen Produzenten von Vinho Verde-Weinen. Er setzt sich entschieden für nachhaltigen Weinbau und die Herstellung natürlicher Weine in der Douro-Region ein. Tiago hat sich als Experte für Pet Nat-Weine einen Namen gemacht, eine Stilrichtung, die für ihre natürlichen und sprudelnden Eigenschaften bekannt ist. Sein Engagement für die Erweiterung der Grenzen und sein Einsatz für umweltfreundliche Praktiken machen ihn zu einer geachteten Persönlichkeit in der Welt des Weinbaus.
