The N° 8 is the knife most people think of when they say "Opinel". 8.5 cm blade, beechwood handle, 48 grams. Big enough for bread, sausage, and cheese on the picnic blanket, small enough for your pocket.
The color is part of the Colorama Earth series. The beechwood comes from French forests and is lacquered, which protects the handle against moisture and stains. At the end of the handle is a leather cord, with which you can attach the knife to your belt or a carabiner.
The blade is made of modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, which Opinel has been using for decades. It is rust-free, cuts cleanly, and can be resharpened with little effort.
The Virobloc safety ring dates back to 1955. A short turn, and the blade is locked: in the open position while working, in the closed position for the pocket.
This knife does not belong in the dishwasher. Wipe after use, let dry, done.
