The Garnacha grapes for the 2021 Común red wine come from vines planted in 2016 in Tierra de Barros in Extremadura (Spain) and imported to Portugal by Luís Lpoes.
This authentic expression of Spanish winemaking art is ideal for connoisseurs and is offered directly from the barrels of the renowned Bodega Palacio Quemado , where Luís Lopes works as a consultant.
He likes this grape variety because it can express freshness in a very warm climate. The grapes were harvested at night and fermented in raw concrete for seven days.
After malolactic fermentation, the wine was transferred to used 500-litre French oak barrels where it matured for 24 months.
It has an explosive nose of ripe raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. It is ripe, juicy and heady at 14.5% alcohol, but balanced and fresh on the palate with a pH of 3.56 and 5.44 grams of acidity.
Unfortunately only 1,300 bottles produced.
