Juicy sardines, generously simmered in butter, with the delicious aroma of roasted buckwheat, which creates a light crackling sound in the pan. The whole dish is seasoned with a splash of lemon, which perfectly rounds it off.
So that they can reveal their full flavor, place the closed can in lukewarm water for a few minutes.
Now pour the contents of the can into a pan and gently heat the fish over low heat so that the flesh does not lose its texture.
Alternatively, you can also heat the sardines in the oven or in the microwave.
Tip: Also available as a 6-piece collection – an original gift!
Eating sardines warm is an old Breton tradition. Heating them brings out the aroma of the fish in a particularly intense way. At Belle-Iloise, all sardines are caught with the bolinche, a special net, and immediately freshly processed. Before olive oil began its conquest of the world, Breton sardines were mostly preserved in butter or Muscadet wine.
Sardine cans come in many varieties: sardines in a fruity sauce, in white wine, in butter, with water and lemon… Try it!
The sardine is still the focal point of many port cities in Brittany, but also in Spain and Portugal. It is not considered an endangered species.
