The humid weather during flowering reduced fruit set, which helped increase the concentration and overall quality of the grapes. Few rain showers before harvest brought freshness to the vineyards, giving the vines a final breath of air to complete maturation.
Fully destemmed grapes followed by slow fermentation at controlled temperature up to 28ºC degrees. Not filtered. Bottled in July 2009.
Oenologist: Claudia Quevedo
A port wine with huge potential, a great pleasure for special moments and a perfect gift for port wine lovers.
Excellent with blue cheeses (Roquefort or Stilton), good chocolate.

Taste: ripe fruit reminiscent of black plums and red currants. Earthy and well balanced with hints of dry wood. After a few minutes, aromas of raspberries and violet blossoms emerge with a nice hint of soy.
On the palate: balanced and voluminous with very good tannins. Sweet oak combined with dried fruits such as figs, plums or dates. Persistent and unique finish.

Press Review : The dark flavors of cassis and blackberries are supported by a focused acidity and beautifully ripe and round tannins, and the ultra-smooth, velvety presence is something to behold. This is a powerful port with a balanced mid-part and a great long finish that leaves a lasting impression. The 2007 Quevedo marks a line in the sand to say "we've arrived" and can make a port as good as any. Drink it now until 2040.
Roy Hersch, For the Love of Port.

Vintage Port is a single harvest port wine bottled between the second and third year after harvest. It is always red and of all port wines it is the one with the longest aging potential. This long aging potential comes from the complex and concentrated grapes used in its production. It is very dark in colour, rich in tannins, with a lot of body and structure and intense on both the nose and the palate. It is bottled unfiltered to preserve all the elements that can support long bottle aging. Dark purple when young, the red color becomes lighter and lighter over time. However, it takes several decades, if not a century, for the brown nuances to emerge. The fruit flavors remain throughout the life of the Vintage Port. It is fresher in the initial phase, but over time more dried fruit aromas emerge. For most port wine collectors and lovers, the vintage port is the most treasured port wine. It is made in small batches. Annual production rarely exceeds 1% of total port wine production. And that's only justified by the fact that we need a combination of factors: excellent weather conditions in the best locations to grow grapes in the Douro. It's not about quantity, it's about putting the best of the best in the bottle for us or the next generation to enjoy. In the best harvests, our Vintage Port will incorporate grapes from the various quintas to retain as much complexity as the best grapes can produce. This was the case, for example, in 2005, 2007 or 2011. There are other years when perfection has not been achieved in all vineyards. But when, in our flagship and most consistent Quinta, Vale d'Agodinho, we have obtained grapes in perfect conditions and of excellent quality that we believe make a wonderful Vintage Port, then we bottle what we call a Single Quinta Vintage Port. This is the case, for example, with the vintages 2008, 2010 or 2013. Drink it young if you want to enjoy the freshness and intensity of the best port wine, or wait a few years and you will experience elegance, complexity and harmony in a bottle of port wine.

allergens and ingredients

Although the Quevedo family has been producing port wine for more than 5 generations, the current company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the youngest port wine houses on the Douro.

With less than 30 years of existence, we feel like we're still at the beginning of the journey and that every day is a new page that we fill with what we love to do most: explore all the possibilities of enjoying wine.

In the late '70s, Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo decided to start a family in S. João Pesqueira, in the heart of the Douro Valley. Both are descendants of families with a long tradition in viticulture and port wine production.

The first Quevedo vineyards were planted in 1889 by Abel Gouveia Costa in Valongo dos Azeites, in S. João da Pesqueira. Abel was succeeded by his son, Raul Gouveia Costa, who made the business flourish, and then by his son-in-law, João Batista Quevedo, who expanded the vineyards into new operations and passed on the love of winemaking to his son, Oscar Quevedo.

Beatriz's family also had their roots in the Carrazeda district on the north bank of the Douro. The main property of the family was the Quinta da Alegria with the train station of the same name.

After making port in his father's facilities for a number of years, Oscar Sr. built a new winery that is now the Quevedo's headquarters. In the meantime he increased the vineyards to the current 100 hectares and 25 hectares of organic olive cultivation.

In 1993 the Quevedo brand was launched, heralding a new era for the family, who were finally bottling port under their own brand, something only possible since 1986 when Portugal joined the EU.

Growing up surrounded by vineyards and barrels, Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo (Jr.) have followed in their parents' footsteps in the family business.

Cláudia Quevedo graduated in oenology from the University of Vila Real in 1998. Since then she has been making port wines in Quevedo. Cláudia is married to Fernando João Martins and lives near the winery with their children Beatriz and João.

Oscar Quevedo (Jr.), who studied economics in Porto and worked in finance in Switzerland and Spain, joined the family in 2009 after the death of his grandfather. He is responsible for Quevedo sales in more than 40 countries.

He is married to Nadia Adria, who will join the company in 2020 and will be responsible for the Marketing and Tourism department. The couple have three children: Marc, Alba and Miguel.
