Herb, chalky, precise – the Moreish Bical is a white wine with backbone. Made from one of the oldest grape varieties in Bairrada, it shows what Portuguese terroir expression means in its purest form. 93 points Robert Parker.
On the nose herb, chalky and serious – a wine reminiscent of the great white wines of Quinta das Bágeiras. On the palate, lively citrus freshness, mineral salinity and a taut precision that is both invigorating and profound.
100% Bical from the Bairrada region – spontaneously fermented and aged on the lees (sur lie) for ten months. Unfiltered, unfined. The grapes were harvested at the right time to avoid vegetal notes and fully express the aromatic purity of the variety.
Ideal with seafood, grilled fish and oysters. Equally convincing as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to light cheese specialties or tapas. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
About the winemaker: Luís Lopes is one of Portugal's most remarkable winemakers. His apprenticeship took him from Domaine Comte Lafon in Burgundy to almost a decade at Quinta da Pellada, and then to New Zealand and Spain. Moreish is his most personal expression – wines made from unusual grape varieties and techniques that leave you wanting more.
