A rare cuvée of old vines from the Douro
The Invincible Número Um represents a wine philosophy that has become rare in Portugal: It is a true field blend – a wine made from an old field blend, where the different grape varieties grow together in the same vineyard and are also harvested and vinified together. Companhia de Vinhos Invencível sources this white wine from vineyards in the Douro where the vines are over 30 years old and have dug their roots deep into the slate rock of this dramatic river landscape.
Four traditional grape varieties, an old tradition
The cuvée combines four classic, indigenous Portuguese white grape varieties: Rabigato provides the distinctive acidity and floral freshness, Arinto brings mineral depth and citrus notes, Códega gives the wine its roundness and ripe fruit, and a small proportion of Moscatel rounds off the bouquet with fine aromatic elegance. This composition is an expression of a centuries-old tradition – long before varietal wines came into fashion, the Douro was known for exactly such field blends.
Gentle vinification between steel and wood
In the cellar, the must is vinified predominantly in stainless steel tanks, with around 10% of the cuvée vinified in used French oak barrels. The wine then matures for seven months in old French barriques, which give it structure and a delicate oak note without masking the grape-typical freshness. In the glass, the Invincible Branco reveals subtle oak aromas and a lively, mineral-driven freshness on the palate. Fresh citrus fruit meets a long, dry finish – an elegant companion to grilled fish, seafood, poultry, or mature hard cheeses.
Certified vegan
The Invincible Número Um Branco 2024 bears the international V-Label and is completely vegan – another sign of the artisanal care of Companhia de Vinhos Invencível.
