The Sardinha de Lisboa is a hand-painted ceramic figure in the shape of a sardine. It is designed in vibrant colors and decorated with various patterns, designs, and motifs.
This sardine has the big city in its blood! The Sardinha New York is inspired by graffiti, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway theaters, baseball, jeans, Wall Street, and the pulse of the Big Apple. Street, urban, fashionable, fast, and always ready to party – with all the colors and the essence of a true New Yorker.
Designed by designer Craig Wheatley, each sardine is made in the Fayence factory in Caldas da Rainha, founded by Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro in 1884, and decorated by hand. It comes in packaging with a newspaper look – a reminiscence of the traditional sardine sale in Lisbon since the 18th century.
