Nutty with a mahogany essence and a nice light molasses note. Soft, smoky and rich.

1992 was the first harvest after the family decided to stop selling to big brands and start the Quevedo's brand. A wise decision, because this 1992 is one of the best Colheita ever produced! A very special port to celebrate special moments.

Colour: light brown with a touch of amber
Intense and concentrated aromas of sun-dried fruits, spices, aged wood and grilled nuts.
The entry on the palate is rich and full of dried fruit flavors, the middle is dense and dry with a smoky character, the finish is explosive with a complex and very long finish with flavors of cinnamon, candied fruit and poached fruit.

Shelf life of the bottle after opening: up to 4 months (in the refrigerator)
Try it with: chocolate, nuts or cheese

Colheita is a single harvest Tawny Port. This means that Colheita is aged in barrels for at least seven years to develop a more brownish color and be affected by the slow oxidation that occurs when port comes into contact with oak. Because Quevedo Colheitas are grown in the upper part of the Douro Valley, where yields are low and tannins are more persistent, they show a fruity character when young and are quite full-bodied. Over time, the tannins soften and the fruit gives way to spice and nutty flavors. At this point they become complex and rich. We can bottle the Colheita every year as long as it is seven or more years old. A Colheita from a given year can be very different depending on the year it was bottled. The longer it ages in the barrel, the less fruity aromas and tannins it has, because in the bottle the lack of oxygen slows down its development.

Although the Quevedo family has been producing port wine for more than 5 generations, the current company was only founded in 1993. This makes us one of the youngest port wine houses on the Douro.

With less than 30 years of existence, we feel like we're still at the beginning of the journey and that every day is a new page that we fill with what we love to do most: explore all the possibilities of enjoying wine.

In the late '70s, Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo decided to start a family in S. João Pesqueira, in the heart of the Douro Valley. Both are descendants of families with a long tradition in viticulture and port wine production.

The first Quevedo vineyards were planted in 1889 by Abel Gouveia Costa in Valongo dos Azeites, in S. João da Pesqueira. Abel was succeeded by his son, Raul Gouveia Costa, who made the business flourish, and then by his son-in-law, João Batista Quevedo, who expanded the vineyards into new operations and passed on the love of winemaking to his son, Oscar Quevedo.

Beatriz's family also had their roots in the Carrazeda district on the north bank of the Douro. The main property of the family was the Quinta da Alegria with the train station of the same name.

After making port in his father's facilities for a number of years, Oscar Sr. built a new winery that is now the Quevedo's headquarters. In the meantime he increased the vineyards to the current 100 hectares and 25 hectares of organic olive cultivation.

In 1993 the Quevedo brand was launched, heralding a new era for the family, who were finally bottling port under their own brand, something only possible since 1986 when Portugal joined the EU.

Growing up surrounded by vineyards and barrels, Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo (Jr.) have followed in their parents' footsteps in the family business.

Cláudia Quevedo graduated in oenology from the University of Vila Real in 1998. Since then she has been making port wines in Quevedo. Cláudia is married to Fernando João Martins and lives near the winery with their children Beatriz and João.

Oscar Quevedo (Jr.), who studied economics in Porto and worked in finance in Switzerland and Spain, joined the family in 2009 after the death of his grandfather. He is responsible for Quevedo sales in more than 40 countries.

He is married to Nadia Adria, who will join the company in 2020 and will be responsible for the Marketing and Tourism department. The couple have three children: Marc, Alba and Miguel.
