The house "Ramon Peña" based in Ribadumina, Galicia, can look back on a history of more than 90 years: Founded in 1920 by José Peña Oubiña in Cambados in Galicia, the company is now managed by the third generation of Nely Concheiro. Their business is the production of premium, additive-free canned fish and seafood from the rias (fjords) of Galicia that enjoy worldwide popularity. Ramon Peña's declared goal is to get gourmets and restaurateurs all over the world to rethink. The squid family includes squid, octopus and cuttlefish. They are usually about 30 cm long and weigh up to 5 kilos. Their delicate arms are particularly popular in the kitchen, as is the black ink they use to surround themselves when threatened. It can be used to color pasta or rice. Their flesh is firm and lean and tastes good raw (e.g. as sushi), briefly cooked, seared, grilled or deep-fried.
