Vincent Darritchon is one of the best producers of Piment d'Espelette AOP, the famous chilli from the Basque Country. His company, la Maison du piment, has existed since 1996. Vincent grows the Espelette pepper himself and harvests it with a small team. In this way, he can offer his high-quality product at a fair manufacturer's price. The Piment d'Espelette is his life, his passion. He even wrote a book about it: “Autour du Piment d'Espelette”.
Piment d'Espelette is traditionally only grown and produced in the region around the small town of Espelette in the French Basque Country. At harvest time or shortly thereafter, the pods dry in the sun in bright red braids that are attached to house facades. A very picturesque picture that you will not soon forget!
