Differences between anchovies and sardines
Anchovies and sardines are popular canned foods that are versatile, tasty and healthy. Both contain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D and other valuable nutrients. Here are the differences between them, both in terms of taste and in terms of their nutritional values.
Anchovies come from the Cantabrian Sea and are brined and packed in olive oil. They have a distinctive taste and are firm in texture. Sardines, on the other hand, are larger, have a more voluminous belly and a smaller mouth. They are thinner and have a more rounded or elongated shape.
In terms of taste, sardines are believed to taste milder while anchovies have a more intense flavor. However, it depends on the type of preservation. Our opinion is that sardines have a more intense and fuller taste, while anchovies are more delicate and delicate in taste.
When it comes to health, experts agree that both types of fish are equally healthy. The omega-3 fatty acid content is similar in both, although sardines contain more vitamins A, B12, calcium, phosphorus, calories and protein than anchovies. Anchovies, on the other hand, have more vitamin B3 and iron. However, the differences are small, so we recommend making the choice based on taste.
