Located in Brittany, very close to Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan, the Distillerie du Gorvello is a small family business specializing in the cultivation of cider trees. As an extension of this activity, the Distillerie du Gorvello also produces its own wonderful quality products. This is done in the processing workshop located in our own orchards. With a lot of care and according to traditional methods (in the alembic, a traditional distilling device), various brandies are distilled here and matured in oak barrels in our own cellar.
The land worked by the Gorvello Distillery now covers just over 18 hectares, divided between two separate sites. The first site, Gramené, is adjacent to the winery, in the village of Gorvello, in the municipality of Sulniac. This is a 5 hectare orchard with trees averaging 20 years old.
The second site, Clos Saint André, is in the municipality of Marzan. The hillside that dominates the Vilaine, acquired in 2012, has been shaped by a progressive planting campaign that has allocated an area of 8.5 hectares to the orchard.
The dozen or so types of cider apples that are grown here are mainly of Breton origin and very diverse. They can be divided into four main families: sweet (Douce Coët), sweet-bitter (Bedan and Douce Moën), bitter (Marie Ménard, Kermerrien, Fréquin Rouge, Cahoua, Martinais and Vilbéry) and sour (Guillevic, Petit Jaune and Fil Jaune). ). This diverse range of flavors makes it possible to create the perfect flavor blends for each product.
