The Guintrand family, four generations of canners in the heart of Provence - since 1898
For over a hundred years, in Provence, in Carpentras, Guintrand has been producing canned fruit and vegetables from regional agricultural areas.
In 1898, in Caromb, on the slopes of Mont-Ventoux, founder Paul Guintrand made his first tins in an improvised workshop in the family home. The means corresponded to those of the time. For example, it was a horse that used its power to drive the press that was used to puree the tomatoes.
In 1910, he decided to settle down in Carpentras, to be closer to the railway line and the metal can factory that was located there. This eliminated the burden of transport, which at that time was still carried out with a horse-drawn cart. His studio became more modern: electricity and steam revolutionized production methods.
Since then, the know-how and skills of the successive teams have been continuously perfected, with compliance with the principle of quality always being a priority for the company.
So far, four generations have succeeded each other in a spirit of solidarity so that Guintrand continues as a family business that remains true to its commitment to quality and proudly perpetuates the culinary traditions of Provence.
